Doctor Who, into the future.
Just catching up on programmes I recorded prior to the Christmas break that I have wanted to see, one of them being ‘The Science of Doctor Who’ and presented by the physicist, Professor Brian Cox and recorded at the Royal Institute in London for the BBC. I believe it was originally televised in 2013 but shown again this year and very good it was too. Also one of the highlights of the Christmas season for me is the Doctor Who special that was aired on Christmas Day that introduced the new person who is taking over the role as the Doctor for the foreseeable future, but it got me thinking. If you could have any of the skills of the Doctor which one would you choose? Most people I believe would say, to travel in time. But is it a skill we would really want, for in reality we all know what our past was like and personally I would not want to revisit that part of my life. I certainly wouldn’t want to travel arbitrarily to any time in the future. If we would really like to travel into the future, I would want to make use of another one of the Doctors skills, that of regeneration, to regenerate myself into the person I would want to be. A far better me, learning from all of the mistakes I have made in the past, to create my own future.
But this is not the stuff of science fiction, for it is something that we can all do right now.
With the onset of the New Year 2018 just a few days away, I would like to wish each and every one a very happy, healthy and peaceful New Year, hoping all your dreams come true.
